Vesuvius, Italy

The first part of today was to head up to Mount Vesuvius. We got into Pompeii station around midday and got a bus from there up the mountain. Anyone that plans to do this in the future i would recommend NOT wearing thongs (flip flops) as once you are dropped of by the bus the walk to the top is very steep, very slippery and very very hot. Once you finally get to the top and stop for a drink, the giant crater is massive. As you wonder around the top you can see several different types of rock layers and in one spot steam(sulphur) could be seen coming out from between the rocks. We walked along the lip, enjoying the view inside and and side the volcano. And after taking a small piece of the volcano as a memento we headed back down the steep path the meet the bus to take us back to Pompeii.
